MHM-EP-01 || Psychosocial Counseling

Mental Health Matters EP01 Psychosocial Counseling Webinar Mental health issues have been globally rising public health problems. In average, one out of four people seem to have been victimized with mental health issues and majority of them do not get proper treatment on time. Adolescents, aged population, and early youths are at high risk of mental illness. According to WHO, depression is the leading cause of disability and suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29 years on recent years. Around 20% of the world’s children and adolescents have a mental health condition. In the context of Nepal, less than 3% of the national budget is allocated to the health sector and the government spends only about 1% of the health budget on mental health. Taking all this into consideration, Merit Pokhara has collaborated with Revive for combating mental health issues through pragmatic actions and approaches with pilot programs for next 1 year. We are organizing multiple online and offline events as per requirements and mutual understanding targeting adolescents, young people, working men and women. The first Psychosocial Counseling Webinar will take place on 19th February 2021 with a major target on adolescents. The goal of this online program is to enable the adolescents improve well-being, to alleviate distress and enhance coping skills. According to WHO, Adolescence is a unique stage of human development and an important time for laying the foundations of good health. Adolescents face many physical, social, psychological, identical changes on their journey to adulthood. This event is being held to create a meaningful impact and help them make sense of feelings, thoughts and behavior. Adolescents are highly recommended to join this webinar because psychosocial counseling helps them to address their problems and assist them to identify things they might be going through. Similarly, counseling allows them to grow into healthy, sound-minded adults. We are presenting a well-trained and qualified professional counselor who will motivate throughout the session. They will address everyone’s problems very carefully and provide feedback to our trainee on how they should handle themselves amidst all the changes that they are going through. Unfortunately, we can only admit max 60 applicants to this very essential and awaited webinar to make it best effective.
